File # 2025-869

Coquitlam RCMP are investigating the theft of a large concrete bear sculpture stolen from the porch of a Port Coquitlam residence.

On Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 9:40 pm, Coquitlam RCMP responded to a report that a sculpture had been stolen from the owner’s porch at a residence near Hastings Street and Kitchener Avenue in Port Coquitlam. The large concrete bear statue is dark gray, one meter in height and weighs approximately 100 lbs.

The subsequent extensive search of the area by police was unsuccessful in locating either the thief or the sculpture.

This brazen theft from the victim’s residence is very disappointing, said Constable John Graham of Coquitlam RCMP. The statue holds significant sentimental value for the owners and is symbolic of their respect and admiration of our beloved local bear population. We hope to return this unique statue, undamaged, to the rightful owners. It is incumbent on us all to respect other people’s property in an effort to maintain a sense of community.
