Families invited to Car Seat Safety Clinic this Family Day weekend

Richmond RCMP, in collaboration with Richmond Fire-Rescue, ICBC, and BCAA, is proud to announce its upcoming Car Seat Clinic. The event is set to take place on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Brighouse Fire Hall No. 1, located at 6960 Gilbert Road, Richmond. This free clinic is part of Richmond RCMP’s ongoing commitment to enhancing community safety through education.

The Child Passenger Safety Program, launched by Richmond RCMP in 2022, has successfully guided parents and caregivers in the correct installation and use of child car seats. During the clinic, certified child passenger safety educators, including Richmond RCMP officers and community volunteers, will offer personalized car seat audits. These audits ensure that child car seats meet Canadian safety standards, are not expired, and are correctly installed based on the child’s age, weight, and height.

Each audit session will last approximately 30-45 minutes, focusing on empowering caregivers with the knowledge to properly install the car seat and safely secure their child. The event provides caregivers with a unique opportunity to gain hands-on assistance and valuable safety insights to protect their children on the road.

Due to the event’s popularity, early registration is strongly encouraged. Parents and caregivers can secure their spot by calling 604-207-4761 from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This initiative reflects Richmond RCMP’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our youngest community members, said Corporal Adriana O’Malley, Richmond RCMP Media Relations Officer. Through collaboration with our partners, we aim to make road safety a priority for all families.

In addition to clinics like this, the program extends its impact by delivering safety presentations to community groups, such as daycares, broadening its reach and fostering a culture of safety across Richmond.
