Impaired Driving - Collision

On December 8th at 9:00 pm Sunshine Coast RCMP were dispatched to a report that a vehicle had struck a light pole in the 1200 block of Stewart Road in Gibsons BC.  A 52 year old Sechelt female was arrested for impaired driving and served a driving prohibition.

Motorcycle vs Deer

On December 8th at approximately 2:30 pm the Sunshine Coast RCMP were dispatched to a report that a motorcyclist had struck a deer on Port Mellon Hwy in Langdale.  A local male in his 50's was transported to hospital in stable condition.

Drug Investigation

RCMP members conducted a late night traffic stop in Sechelt which led to a male being arrested for trafficking of  controlled substance.  Police seized cannabis, cocaine and psilocybin mushrooms.  File is still under investigation.

Fraud

On December 6th a Gibsons man reported he had lost $30,000 in a bitcoin scam after a company had solicited him trying to sell AI stocks.  Sunshine Coast RCMP are warning the public to be diligent in assessing the credibility of businesses soliciting the public and promising high rewards prior to providing personal information or transferring money.

Attempted Fraud

On December 7th a local male reported that he had received a telephone call from someone claiming to be with Telus. The male became suspicious when the caller was asking for his credit card details over the phone so he terminated the call and reported it to police.  Be very wary as criminal entities are able to "spoof" their phone numbers to appear as though they are calling from legitimate businesses.

Impaired Driving

Police conducted a traffic stop on December 13th at 6:30 pm of a vehicle on Dolphin Avenue in Sechelt after noting the vehicle's insurance had expired several months earlier.  An odor of liquor was detected on the drivers breath which led to police demanding a breath sample.  Two samples were obtained which both resulted in a "Fail" reading.   The male, a Sechelt resident was issued a 90 day driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
