File # 2024-42691
Burnaby RCMP is asking for public assistance in identifying a suspect after a hit and run that left a 64-year-old woman with serious injuries.
On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at approximately 6:45 a.m., Burnaby RCMP responded to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle at Canada Way and Burris Street.
The victim was crossing the street when a vehicle turning left onto Canada Way eastbound failed to yield and struck the victim. The driver did not remain on scene. The victim was transported to the hospital in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators have obtained dashcam video that shows the incident, but have not yet been able to identify the vehicle or driver involved. If you are able to identify the suspect vehicle or have any information related to this incident, please contact the Burnaby RCMP,
said Cpl Mike Kalanj with the Burnaby RCMP.
Police would also like to speak to the driver of a white pickup truck that drove northbound on Burris Street through the intersection just prior to the collision.
If this pickup truck has dashcam video, we believe it may have captured a clearer image of the suspect vehicle and we would like to speak to the driver,
Kalanj added.
Police are asking anyone with dashcam footage in the area on December 11, 2024, between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., or anyone with information on the vehicle or the suspect, to call Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 and quote file 2024-42691.
