File # 2024-39154
A display of reckless driving ended abruptly for a driver after he lost control of his vehicle and it ended up lodged in the front of nearby residence. Fortunately, no one in the home nor the occupants of the vehicle were injured. The incident occurred at approximately 10:15 PM on Saturday November 30, 2024 at the roundabout located at the intersection of Butcher Road and Kenwill Drive.
Police, Fire and BCEHS responded. When police arrived, several neighbours and the homeowner were out on the street assessing the damage. Witnesses told police the driver was aggressively driving in circles, commonly referred to as doing donuts
. At one point, the driver appeared to lose control of the vehicle and ended up driving across the front lawn of a home. The vehicle came to a stop after striking and lodging itself in the foundation of the home. The impact destroyed some brick work and a basement window. Following the collision, two occupants of the vehicle were seen getting out and running away.
Police were able to track down the alleged driver and approximately one hour later served a young adult man with several violation tickets under the Motor Vehicle Act for No Insurance, Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident and Drive without Due Care. The vehicle was later towed away.
This incident could have ended tragically and is a good reminder that there is no time or place for this type of driving on our streets, and that drivers will be held responsible for their actions,
