File # 2024-36314
Richmond RCMP have arrested a suspect in connection with an alleged break and enter in Richmond.
On November 16, 2024 shortly after 2:30 a.m. Richmond RCMP officers responded to a reported break and enter in progress at the 13900 block of Maycrest Way. According to the complainant, the business’s security alarm had been triggered, and a live-video feed confirmed that someone was attempting to gain entry.
Upon arrival, frontline officers observed a truck backed into the storefront in what appeared to be an attempt to break in. Officers quickly set up containment around the premises and located the suspect, who was subsequently taken into custody.
The suspect, identified as Joey Antoine Maillet, has been charged with multiple offences, including:
- Break and enter with intent, contrary to section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC);
- Theft of motor vehicle, contrary to section 333.1(1) of the CC;
- Mischief under $5000, contrary to section 430(3) of the CC (3 counts).
Maillet is in-custody pending a bail hearing, currently set for November 22, 2024.
Our frontline officers acted quickly and decisively to secure the scene and apprehend the suspect,
said Inspector Mike Roberts, Richmond RCMP Frontline Operations. We leverage every tool available—from real-time surveillance to coordinated response tactics—to deter crime in our community and ensure that those who attempt it are held accountable.
