File # 2022-191275

Surrey RCMP have arrested two men involved in a shooting which took place in Cloverdale in December 2022.

On December 17, 2022, Surrey RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the 6400-block of 188 Street. Police located a 44-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds who was taken to hospital with serious injuries. (See previous release: Surrey RCMP investigate shots fired in Cloverdale Area).

The investigation was assumed by the Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit (SCU) at the onset, as investigators sought information which would bring light to the circumstances behind the shooting. Investigators worked tirelessly and were able to determine that this shooting was that of a mistaken identity. The victim has since recovered from their gunshot injuries.

For the following 23 months, investigators worked relentlessly in peeling back the layers of the investigation. Surrey RCMP SCU, with support from the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), were able to identify the suspects.

On November 7, 2024 charges were approved against 23-year-old Juan Pablo Segovia-Sanhueza from the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, and 26-year-old Terry Rodney Jeffrey McDonald from Surrey, BC.

As Canada’s national police service, the reach of the Surrey RCMP spans across the country, says Sgt. Andre Johnny of Serious Crime Unit. Mounties are known to always get their man, wherever they might be, and this case is a perfect example.

Both men are currently in custody.

As this matter is now before the courts, no further information will be released.
