Three individuals charged following multi-year drug trafficking investigation

Richmond RCMP Organized Crime Unit investigation results in charges against three individuals following multi-year drug trafficking investigation. This investigation was conducted by Richmond RCMP OCU Drug Target Team and began in November of 2021. During the course of the investigation multiple search warrants were executed at locations in both Richmond and Vancouver. Items seized during the execution of these warrants included:

• $ 165,567.00 CDN cash;
• $ 14,279 USD cash;
• approximately 3.6 kgs of alleged methamphetamine;
• approximately 1500 tablets of alleged MDMA.

As a result of this investigation charges have been approved against three individuals:

Wan Yu HUI: Seven counts of trafficking a controlled substance

Yeping YANG: Four counts of trafficking a controlled substance

Weiyi YU: Two counts of trafficking a controlled substance

These charges mark a significant step forward in our ongoing battle against drug trafficking in Richmond, says Chief Superintendent (C/Supt.) Dave Chauhan, Officer-in-charge of Richmond RCMP, This investigation demonstrates our dedication to dismantling criminal operations and protecting our community from the dangers of illicit drugs. We will continue to work tirelessly, alongside our partners, to ensure that those threatening the safety of our community are held accountable.

This investigation was initiated as the result of intelligence garnered from another Richmond RCMP OCU investigation. As that investigation is currently before the courts no further information will be provided.

What this shows is the tangled web of complexity we often come across in investigations associated to organized crime, says C/Supt. Chauhan.
