Comox Valley RCMP is reminding the community about the importance of stranger danger awareness after an incident at Courtenay Elementary School yesterday afternoon.

On November 5, 2024 police received a report that a man was seen on school property at approximately 1:10 p.m. attempting to engage in conversation with young students. A teacher approached the man, which prompted him to leave the area.

We are releasing a photo of the man which was obtained as he was walking away in an effort to speak with him and gather more information. Said Cst. Monika Terragni, Media Relations Officer, Comox Valley RCMP. This step is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of our community’s children.

Parents, care-givers, and guardians are encouraged to speak with children about how to safely respond to unfamiliar people. Here are some simple and helpful reminders for young people:
