The Burnaby RCMP is pleased to announce the re-launch of the City of Burnaby’s RCMP Community Police Office Volunteer Program, which allows residents to contribute to community safety across the city while volunteering alongside Burnaby RCMP and City of Burnaby staff.

The program officially re-launched in Burnaby on October 1, 2024 with a new streamlined application process after being temporarily put on hold due to COVID-19.

We are really excited to be relaunching this program as it’s a meaningful way to connect with our community and give members of the public a unique experience working alongside police and detachment staff, said Aman Gill, Burnaby RCMP’s Manager of Community Programs and City Services.

Whether you are wanting to explore a new opportunity or perhaps you’re interested in a career in policing and looking to see if it might be a good fit for you, being a Community Police Office Volunteer is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to make a difference in Burnaby, added Insp. Peri Mainwaring, Burnaby RCMP’s Community Programs Officer.

A one-year commitment is required, and the time commitment is approximately eight hours per month. Applicants will need to undergo an interview, obtain a security clearance, and take part in training in order to become a volunteer.

If you’re interested, we encourage you to take the first step and apply, said Gill.

Burnaby RCMP is also accepting applications for its Auxiliary Program, which is separate from the Community Police Office Volunteer program, and requires a longer and more significant time commitment. Learn more about Burnaby RCMP’s Auxiliary Program at this link: Burnaby RCMP Auxiliary Program
