A man is in custody awaiting a bail hearing, following a break and enter reported last night.

On Tuesday Oct. 8, 2024, just before 10 p.m., Kamloops RCMP Detachment frontline officers responded to the 100-block of Chestnut Avenue where a person was allegedly attempting to break into a shed on a residential property. A suspect was located by police and taken into custody without issue.

As part of the investigation, officers also seized a baton and break-in instruments, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP Detachment spokesperson. The man was held in custody for a bail hearing scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

Jordan Colin Christopher Dent, 29, of Kamloops, is charged with one count each of break and enter, breach of an undertaking by possessing a prohibited weapon, and possession of an instrument suitable for breaking into a place.
