Motor vehicle collision – 144 Street & Hyland Road

Surrey RCMP is requesting the public’s assistance with a motor vehicle collision that occurred on October 5, 2024 near 144 Street and Hyland Road in Surrey.

On October 5, 2024 at approximately 4:30 pm, Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a fatal motor vehicle collision near 144 Street and Hyland Road. A Ford F350 was travelling northbound on 144 Street when it crossed into oncoming traffic. The vehicle then collided with a bus stop bench injuring two pedestrians and causing damage to the surrounding property.

One 33-year-old male was declared deceased at the scene. A second male in his thirties received minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

The suspect vehicle remained on scene and the driver was arrested by RCMP Traffic Officers.

Drugs and speed have not been ruled out as contributing factors in this collision. The incident is still under investigation.
