Police respond to suspicious occurrence, shots fired

Maple Ridge, B.C. – Ridge Meadows RCMP are investigating a suspicious occurrence in which one person was shot.

On September 23, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Ridge Meadows RCMP received and responded to reports of a male in distress outside a residence in the area of 20700 Camwood Avenue in Maple Ridge.

Police attended the scene and observed that the male had been bear sprayed and sustained additional superficial injuries.

Further investigation led members to a residence in the 11800 block of 207 Avenue where they located a victim of a shooting.

Members administered first aid until BC Emergency Health Services (BC EHS) arrived. The injuries were non-life threatening and the victim was released later the same day.

Police believe this to be a targeted shooting and there is no threat to public safety.

This is an active and ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time.
