Custom-made bike for a child with complex health needs stolen

Surrey RCMP is asking public’s help in locating a stolen bike which is essential for the movement of a child with complex health needs.

On September 17, 2024 Surrey RCMP Youth Unit responded to a report of a bike stolen in the 8800-block of 162 Street. A father reported that on September 16, 2024 at 11:45 am, he parked and secured the bike while he went into a nearby school to pick up his daughter and when he came back within 15 minutes, the bike was stolen.

The father advised that his daughter has complex health needs that requires her to move from one place to another utilizing the custom-made additions to this bike.

CCTV footage was obtained from the area which shows a man cutting the lock off the bike and riding it away. The suspect was wearing a grey and maroon long sleeve shirt, dark pants, a baseball cap and sun glasses.

A man walks into view approaching the bike rack while wheeling a dark pocket bike.

He is wearing a light coloured shirt with dark sleeves, camouflage pants, a cap and sunglasses and he is carrying a backpack on his back.

He parks the pocket bike and stands on the sidewalk looking around.

He removes his packpack, unzipping it, and removes a set of bolt cutters.

He quickly walks over to another bike that is locked to the bike rack, bends down and uses the bolt cutters to cut the lock.

He then steals the bike by walking it away and and taking the cut bike lock with him when he left.

The stolen bike is a Sage green Eventin Abound Cargo E-Bike with two child seats attached.
