Port Alberni RCMP executed four search warrants over the weekend which resulted in the seizure of illicit drugs, multiple firearms, a truck and over $50,000.00 in cash.

Police are recommending numerous charges related to possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled substance and firearms offences following the arrest of a Port Alberni resident and his associate.

RCMP executed search warrants at three locations in Port Alberni as well as a truck registered to a male suspect associated to these locations.

We want the community to know that we are actively engaged in enforcement activities to combat illicit drug trafficking in Port Alberni. Enforcement actions such as this weekend also have a ripple effect in criminal activity that accompany the illicit drug trade, such as violence crimes, property crime and thefts. – said Sgt. Chet CARROLL

Police are recommending that the seized truck be forfeited to the BC Forfeited Crime Proceeds Fund, often referred to as the Proceeds of Crime Program. Through the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General, the Forfeited Crime Proceeds Fund governs the distribution of forfeited crime proceeds in British Columbia. The funds generated from this program are used to facilitate the administration of criminal justice and law enforcement in the province.
