Suspicious death on Texada Island prompts Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit deployment

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) has been deployed to assist with a homicide investigation on Texada Island, B.C.

In the early morning hours of September 2, 2024, Texada RCMP responded to a call for service at a residence in the 5100 block of Para Street on Texada Island. Responding officers located a deceased 81-year-old man believed to be a victim of a homicide.

VIIMCU was contacted and has since taken conduct of the investigation. The investigation remains in its early stages but investigators believe this is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing risk to community safety.

This file remains under investigation and further details cannot be shared at this time. The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit are asking anyone who may have information about this incident to call the VIIMCU Information Line at (250) 380-6211.
