One male in custody after assault with a weapon

Surrey RCMP is advising the public that a suspect has been identified and charged in relation to a stabbing that occurred in Whalley.

On August 22, 2024 at 7:12 pm, Surrey RCMP responded to a report of an alleged assault with a weapon in the 10500 block of King George Boulevard. Frontline officers attended the area and located a male victim, with non-life threatening injuries. The victim was transported to hospital.

Frontline officers conducted multiple interviews and learned that the suspect was known to the victim. The suspect was identified as 44-year-old Sukhjit Hans. Sukhjit Hans was arrested shortly after in the 10700-block of King George Boulevard.

It is believed that a brief interaction took place between the victim and the accused before the victim was stabbed.

On August 23, 2024, Hans was brought before a judge and has been charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, and uttering threats. He has been remanded in custody until his next court date.
