Surrey RCMP is advising the public of an arrest and charge approval from a road rage incident where a firearm was used to threaten the victim.

On August 15, 2024 at 8:11 pm Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a complaint involving a firearm in the 14800-block of Fraser Highway. The complainant reported they were allegedly threatened by an unknown man with a firearm during a road rage incident. Police conducted extensive patrols in the area for the suspect vehicle; however, it was not located.

The frontline investigators gathered CCTV of suspect vehicle and the suspect himself. On August 16, 2024, Surrey RCMP South Community Response Unit (South CRU) with the assistance of the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team (LMD IERT) arrested the suspect in the 27100-block of Fraser Highway. Officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 27200-block of 33A Avenue in Aldergrove and the firearm used in the offence was seized. The firearm was determined to be a replica firearm.

Dariusz Tonderys, 37 years of age from Aldergrove, has been charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and assault with a weapon. He was released with conditions on August 17, 2024. His release order conditions prohibit him from being in possession of any weapons including imitation firearms or weapons. As the investigation is still ongoing, additional charges could be recommended.

This was a very volatile incident for the victim and anyone who witnessed it. Thankfully no one was physically injured, says Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha Media relations Officer Surrey RCMP. If you have any information about this incident, please call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502.
