Mission RCMP are asking for the public’s help in identifying a woman that used forged documents to steal a package of gold from a Canada Post outlet in Mission. Two gold bars were sent to the Canada Post outlet after a resident ordered them online from a retail store. When the resident went to get them from the post office, she learned that the package had already been picked up. The suspect was a black woman in her thirties, with shoulder-length hair, wearing a purple zip-up hoody, a white t-shirt and black pants. The suspect presented two pieces of fake ID, which showed the victim’s address on it, which is how she was able to pick up the package. Around 8:45 pm on July 23, Mission RCMP were called to the 37200 block of Kilgard Road, on Sumas Mountain, where a man was found seriously injured on the side of the road. The man had been riding his gas-powered bicycle along Kilgard Road when investigators believe he lost control, possibly as the result of losing a wheel. The 44-year-old suffered a serious head wound and was airlifted to hospital, but he is expected to survive.

A white Peterbilt semi-truck (without a trailer) was stolen from a parking lot on Harbour Avenue between July 23 and 28. Both doors of the truck had Best Transport Image written on them in red writing. At 5 pm on July 26, two different witnesses called to report a dangerous driver heading eastbound along Lougheed Highway from around 267th Street. Mission RCMP located and pulled over the vehicle on Lougheed Highway at Wren Street. The 61-year-old female driver from Langley was immediately irate with police and assaulted an officer. She was arrested for the assault, and an open bottle of liquor was found in her effects. She refused to provide samples of her breath and was held in cells to sober. The driver received a 90-day driving prohibition and a 30-day vehicle impound, and police are continuing to investigate the matter for potential other charges.

On the ‘light’er side:

On the afternoon of July 26, Mission RCMP received two reports of a suspicious man on Horne Street near 1st Avenue. The man was not wearing a shirt, but did have a pair of boxing gloves on, and was in a heated boxing match with…a light pole. An officer spoke with the man, who said he had no intention of hurting anyone, and was just practising his boxing skills. He agreed to stop hitting the light pole, and the officer recommended that in the future, he find a place to practise that would not attract so much attention from concerned citizens. Should the man eventually enter an organized boxing event, he will clearly have to enter the weight category of a…light weight.
