Are you missing your wallet?
On July 18th, 2024 at 3:00 pm, a wallet was turned into the Kitimat RCMP. The wallet was located on the 200 block of City Centre. The investigating officer has been unable to identify the owner of the wallet. If you are missing your wallet and can identify the wallet and items within, please contact the Kitimat RCMP detachment at 250-632-7111. (2024-2602)
Intoxicated in public
At approximately 8:30 pm on July 18th, the Kitimat RCMP was called to a business located on the 800 block of Tsimshian Blvd for a disturbance. Kitimat RCMP officers arrived on scene and located a male laying on the grass. It was found that he was intoxicated and had caused a disturbance in the business earlier in the evening. The male was arrested for causing a disturbance by being intoxicated in public and lodged at the Kitimat RCMP cells, being released without charge the following morning.

Hit and runs
A report of a vehicle hit and run was received by the Kitimat RCMP on July 19th. It was reported that a vehicle, parked at a Whitesail neighbourhood residence, appears to have been struck by another vehicle leaving damage. It was thought the damage may have occurred a day or so before being reported. A canvas of neighbouring properties for CCTV was done, however nothing found. (2024-2619) A second hit and run was reported later in the day at approximately 2:20 pm. In this instance, a vehicle was parked in a parking lot on the 100 block of City Centre. As a vehicle was turning left, it came into contact with the parked vehicle, but did not stop to exchange information. Information regarding the offending vehicle was provided to the investigating officer, who is still investigating this matter. It is not believed that these incidents are related. (2024-2627)
Backyard fire
During the evening of July 19th, 2024, the Kitimat RCMP was requested to attend a Whitesail neighbourhood residence with a partner agency to investigate a backyard fire. The officers located the residence and there was, in fact, a backyard fire being had. The resident was instructed to put the fire out and was educated about the laws and back yard fires during the current provincial fire ban. Bank fraud
On July 20th, the Kitimat RCMP received a report of a fraud. It was reported that a Kitimat resident had received a phone call from someone stating that they were from the bank that the victim used. The person on the phone requested to confirm the victim’s information, which was done. Shortly after the call, the victim received a text message which alarmed them. A check with the bank showed that all accounts had been locked. A conversation was had with the bank to rectify the issue and possible security breach. (2024-2643)
90-day immediate roadside prohibition
Officers of the Kitimat RCMP were alerted to a possible impaired driver during the evening of July 20th. The vehicle and driver were located and an investigation into the impaired operation of a motor vehicle was initiated. It was found the driver had consumed alcohol after providing two samples of their breath. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. (2024-2645)
Riverside campfire
At approximately 2:45 pm, on July 21st, the Kitimat RCMP were advised of a possible campfire being had along the bank of the Kitimat River on the lower dyke. Kitimat RCMP officers attended the location and were able to find two persons sitting by a small fire. The two were advised about the current provincial fire ban and that they could receive a violation ticket worth approximately $1000. The pair were very apologetic and stated they were unaware of the fire ban. The fire was quickly extinguished and fire ban education was provided. (2024-2658)
Equipment extravaganza / Customer appreciation Day
The Kitimat RCMP would like to thank everyone that came down and joined in for the Equipment extravaganza / Customer appreciation day with Save on Foods at the court house parking lot on July 21st, from 12:00 pm – 4:00pm. There was a great turn out and donations for the Kitimat Food Bank were collected. The Kitimat RCMP would also like to extend a huge thank you to the companies and law enforcement partners that made this event possible and turned it into such a great event by bringing down so many interesting types of vehicles and equipment. With the success that was had, there is hopes to hold this event again next year.
911 hang up call
On July 23rd, the Kitimat RCMP received a dispatch of a dropped 911 call where yelling could be heard in the back ground before the call was lost. A location was provided that the call had come from near a Nechako neighbourhood residence. A patrol was conducted in the area and located some persons that had been involved in an altercation. There was no longer an emergency as the situation had diffused itself and there were no further issues. The police were thanked for their attendance. (2024-2680)
Mischief to vehicle
A report of mischief to a vehicle, which was parked at a Whitesail neighbourhood residence, was received by Kitimat RCMP on July 24th. It was reported that sometime overnight, an unknown culprit had vandalized the vehicle by applying various food products to it. A canvas of the area for CCTV was conducted with negative results.
