Coquitlam RCMP seek to identify suspects who set off a fire extinguisher

Coquitlam RCMP are asking for the public assistance in identifying a group of youth suspects who set off a fire extinguisher inside a store causing significant damage.

Coquitlam RCMP Frontline officers responded to a mischief report at the Walmart located inside Coquitlam Centre Mall located at 2929 Barnet Highway in Coquitlam on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. Upon attendance, police were advised that a group of three youth set off an unopened fire extinguisher inside the store around 8:00 p.m.

The suspects fled the scene following the incident.

Significant damage was caused to the surrounding area, isle and products. No one was injured.

We are extremely fortunate that no one was injured during this careless and isolated incident as the store was occupied with shoppers, said Media Relations Officer, Corporal Alexa Hodgins. We are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident or may recognize these suspects to contact the Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550.
