Metchosin man arrested for firearm offences

In the evening of February 21, 2024, the West Shore RCMP were called to a property near the 4600 block of Sooke Road in Metchosin for a report of a male unsafely discharging a firearm inside a residence.

Frontline West Shore RCMP officers along with the RCMP Emergency Response Team responded, quickly securing the area by surrounding the residence. Shortly thereafter, the suspect, a 48-year-old Metchosin man, was taken into custody safely and without incident.

Following the arrest, members of the West Shore RCMP Serious Crime Unit executed a search warrant on the residence, where they located and seized firearms and ammunition.

The suspect has been charged with Careless Use of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Order, and Uttering Threats and remains in custody. His next court appearance is February 28, 2024
