File # 2023-18994

Around 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 9, 2023, Prince George RCMP was called to the 2000-block of First Avenue in response to a report of a body that was located inside a tent in the area.

The body was found in an advanced stage of decomposition, having been exposed to the elements for a number of days. Due to these circumstances, the Serious Crime Unit has taken conduct of the investigation while we wait for the findings of the B.C. Coroner Service, which is conducting a parallel investigation, states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

The death is being treated as suspicious while police officers collect more information; however, police do not believe there is any increased risk to public safety. The investigation remains ongoing.
