On Wednesday November 30, 2022, Police and ICBC launched the 2022 Impaired Driving/ CounterAttack campaign. This was followed on Dec 3rd with the Light up the Highways
events across the province.
During the Light up the Highways event Williams Lake BC Highway Patrol in collaboration with Williams Lake RCMP General Duty and the Crime Reduction Unit completed six check points in the Williams Lake area, checking approximately 300 vehicles, and removed five (5) impaired drivers along with their vehicles from the roadway.
Impaired driving continues to be one of the leading causes of fatal and serious injury collisions on our roadways. That is why the Williams Lake BC Highway Patrol is encouraging drivers to be responsible and plan ahead for a safe ride home
stated Sgt Jason Nash of the BCHP Williams Lake unit.
This year the Williams Lake Community Policing Committee has sponsored Operation Red Nose, a volunteer safe ride home service available Friday and Saturday nights December 9 & 10, 16 & 17, and the 31st from 9 PM to 3 AM. Call 250-392-2222
